Q. What is CrossFit?
A. CrossFit, put simply, is an exercise routine/lifestyle that is guaranteed to take you beyond your previous notions of what being “fit” could be… and, have an absolute blast in the process. Every day, there is a new “Workout of the Day” (WOD) posted and each class completes together.
Q. How long has Razor's Edge been around?
A. We opened in 2008, the first affiliate in Pensacola and the 13th in Florida. Our coaches have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and our gym is a great community to be a part of!
Q: Do I need experience or some minimum level of fitness?
A: No. Our workouts and exercises scale to any level. We've had everyone from grandmothers to obese people, and they've all been fine. You will too.
Q. How do I start?
A: Schedule a time to come in and try a free beginner's class. Get a taste of CrossFit workouts and see if REF might be a good fit for you.
Q: I'm really fit and would like to skip the Foundation's Workshop, and come to the Workout of the Day (WOD) class, can I do that?
A: No. You must complete our Foundations Workshop, unless you:
Have a CrossFit Level I Certification
A coach willing to vouch at your previous affiliate
Willing to 'Test Out' and let our coaches assess your current level of conditioning and technical competency.
Q: Can I just come to REF and work out on my own?
A: No. We are more like a dojo than a typical commercial gym. We offer classes or one-on-one where people work out under trainer supervision, as it yields better, safer, and faster results than having people simply use the facility by themselves.
Q: The free WOD was great, how do I join as a member?
A: If you don’t test out, first you must complete our 6 session Foundations Workshop.
Q. What does the Foundations cover?
A: Bodyweight exercises, Slow lifts: Squat, Deadlift and Press, Metabolic Conditioning (a.k.a. "MetCon"): "Cindy","Fran", Olympic Lifting: Clean, Jerk, Snatch, kettlebells, medicine balls and more.
Q. How do I sign up and pay?
A. You can pay each month by check or credit card draft. Please read the credit card draft policy before signing up. There are no contracts or joining fees. You pay as you go.
Q. I’m traveling to Pensacola – can I drop in?
A. Absolutely! We have several athletes who visit us regularly from out-of-town. There is a $10 drop in fee, and you can attend any class that fits your schedule.
Q: Do you sell t-shirts and other stuff?
A: You Bet!
